Showcase “Fearless” of Hong Kong Police to the World – Woman Sergeant won 1st Runner-up in IPA Photo Competition 2020
International Police Association (IPA) Photo Competition 2020 was held earlier this year for the sake of boosting friendship among police officers around the world through cultural activity. As always, the event attracted overwhelming supports from members who submit their photos to contend for the prize and honour in two categories: Police at Work and Open Category.
Woman Sergeant Ms YUEN Mei-ching, member of IPA Hong Kong Section had submitted a photo taken at the scene of TIDERIDER Operation and titled it “Fearless” in her submission this year. There are more than 500 entries from 36 nations participated in the competition. A Judging Panel is formed up by the Cyprus Association of Professional Photographers, which is absolute transparency and objective given that the photos did not indicate any details of the contestants in the assessment.
The participating photos were of an extremely high standard, eliciting the most favourable comments from the judges, who stated they found it difficult to distinguish the best ones. Finally, the photo “Fearless” of Woman Sergeant Mei Ching won the 1st Runner-up in the Police at Work category.
The winning photo “Fearless” captures the moment of Regional Response Contingent troop advancing in a sweep of rioters after firing tear gas. It is a true reflection of Hong Kong Police Force’s courage and determination to restore law and order without fear.
